Parent Inspirational Music

It's rare to come across music that expresses my feelings as a mother/parent - but I'm always looking. Last year I discovered Fisher - The Lovely Years and You - those two can leave you weeping if you're in a sentimental mood. Seriously, if you haven't heard them - run to iTunes.

This is my latest discovery - the end gets a little raw around the edges (not as good as Fisher) but still worth it. Enjoy!

My appologies if you already know this piece. It's completely new to me.

Estrogen Poisoning

Yes, you read correctly, and we (I) need your prayers. Tonight there is a great chance that the boys and I will be subjected to toxic air, with the estrogen levels FAR beyond what the EPA recommends. The cause? Twilight came out on DVD today and Rachael is having over a few (about a trillion) close friends that will be pumped up on girliness. Manicures, veggie trays, and Edward swooning galore.

I need suggestions on how to combat this. The only thing I could come up with is, when the kids are asleep, clean my guns upstairs and watch old episodes of 24. But I’m just not sure if increasing testosterone in the atmosphere will negate the estrogen. I’m afraid that if testosterone and estrogen were put in a 1 on 1 fight, estrogen would win. I don’t think I’ve ever won an argument with a woman, so I don’t have much faith in my testosterone.

Anyway, wish me luck. If you notice that Rachael has successfully enrolled James and Andrew in a tumbling class, you’ll know I was infected with the estrogen and gave her permission to do that. Please, for the sake of the little ones, think manly thoughts tonight and direct them towards our house. I’ll need all the help I can get.

An Occasional Dose of Simpsons

Before I present this, let me make a note here. There was a time I was quite fanatical about The Simpsons.

And then I had children.

It's amazing how many bad things suddenly become terribly obvious when you have your 5 or 3 yr old watching with you. So we don't watch The Simpsons much anymore at our house.

But there are still those classic moments. Clips like the following that just work on SO many levels.

(like this is EXACTLY how my kids act when I'm trying to take a shower)

Enjoy!

I Spy 2 Happy Guys

This past week I took the troops to see BYU's opening exhibit featuring Walter Wick - the famous author of the I Spy... books.

Side note: These books at the BEST for sacrament meetings.

In my defense, I couldn't find a single sign ANYWHERE in the exhibit that talked about taking photos. So I actually snapped a few before the guard got on my case. Shhhhh!!! Don't tell anyone.

The exhibit was fabulous! It runs until early August - so don't miss this one if you have a chance.

Holidays and Prayers

We've been discussing holidays a lot lately - where they fall, celebrations, which birthday comes next, etc.

Last night Greg asked Our Sweetie to give our family prayer before bedtime. Here's the part where Greg and I lost it.... (remember, he's only 3)

Bless our family, bless the snow, have a happy Halloween, Merry Christmas and Happy Easter Eggs.

We managed to get to the end of the prayer. After which Older Brother gave Our Sweetie a stern scolding about how you don't say that stuff in your prayers. Greg and I gave him lots of hugs and tickled him non-stop.
