When Your Parenting Just Isn't Sinking In

My Big Guy came home from the bus stop today via a friend's mom's car (who happened to pick up her daughter at the same time). I was grateful, but worried.

"Why did you get in the car? Do you know the mom?"

No. But it's okay. Her daughter is on my bus.

"But you don't know who the mom is. Did she know our family password?"

Don't worry Mom. I told her what the password is. She knows it.

Oh man! I have the same problem with my kid.

"Do you get in a stranger's car"

"no"

"What if he gives you candy?"

"You eat it! Candy is good for you."

That was hilarious. Glad you have that one preserved for good now.

Wow, that makes me think. Hilarious. And good to be aware of!

PS - Can't wait to see your new house!!

That was too funny! I have not given my oldest our garage code for that very reason - because I fear all the neighbor kids will know it soon after he does. :)

My friend had a similar situation once. I picked up her four-year-old cuz he was walking home alone from a park and was not supposed to be doing so.

His mom asked him later who had taken him home (she wasn't there at the time) and was appalled that he didn't know my name, but he said, "but mom, she's your friend" because he had seen me talking to her ...
